Terms

Updated October 24, 2026 · first version: October 22

These terms are the agreement between you and Mestri. By using mestri.app or the Mestri app, you accept them. Mestri hasn't opened yet: today they apply to this site and the demo, and when the app opens they will apply to everything they describe. A lawyer will review them before launch. This is a translation for your convenience; if it differs from the versión en español, the Spanish version governs.

The essentials

  1. What Mestri is

Mestri is a platform to find, request, pay for and follow classes: tutoring, music, dance, swimming, art, sports and more. It connects families and students with independent instructors, academies and sports clubs, and gives them tools: scheduling, chat, payments, class reports and content.

Mestri doesn't teach the classes or employ the people who teach. Each class is an agreement between the family and the instructor, the academy or the club. Mestri is a Lexama Labs product, in Puerto Rico (“Mestri”, “we”).

  2. Who can use Mestri

    • To have an account you must have reached the age of majority in Puerto Rico: 21. You can use Mestri from Puerto Rico or from anywhere the law allows you to.
    • Children and teens don't have their own accounts. Their mother, father or legal guardian creates their profile within their account, decides which classes they take and what is shared, and is responsible for that profile.
    • If you create the account of an academy or a club, you confirm that you can act on behalf of that organization.
  3. Your account

Use your real name and accurate information, and keep them up to date. One person, one account. Protect your access: you are responsible for what is done with your account. If you think someone got in without permission, write to us at hola@mestri.app.

  4. If you teach on Mestri

    • You work for yourself. You decide your price, your schedule, where you teach, how you teach and your cancellation policy, within the options Mestri offers. Mestri doesn't tell you how to teach your classes.
    • It's up to you to have the permits, licenses, insurance and certificates your work requires, and to report and pay your taxes.
    • To teach minors, Mestri asks for a current Law 300 certificate (the background certificate issued by the Puerto Rico Department of Health) and for you to renew it before it expires. Without it, Mestri doesn't show you requests from families with minors.
    • You teach the class you accepted, arrive on time, start with the arrival code and close the class with the real time. If you can't make it, you let the family know in the app as soon as possible.
    • You record the class clip only if the family allowed it, never with children's faces, and you review the report before sending it.
    • Mestri charges you a fee when it brings you a new family. You see how much before you accept. If nobody comes, you pay nothing.
    • If you are an academy or a club, you are responsible for your own policies (registration, monthly fees, refunds), for having the families' permission for what you publish and for every member of your team who works with minors having their Law 300 certificate.
    • Card and Apple Pay payments are processed by Stripe, with this text Stripe asks platforms to include: “Payment processing services for instructors, academies and clubs on Mestri are provided by Stripe and are subject to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement, which includes the Stripe Terms of Service (collectively, the Stripe Services Agreement). By agreeing to these terms or continuing to operate as an instructor, academy or club on Mestri, you agree to be bound by the Stripe Services Agreement, as the same may be modified by Stripe from time to time. As a condition of Mestri enabling payment processing services through Stripe, you agree to provide Mestri accurate and complete information about you and your business, and you authorize Mestri to share it and transaction information related to your use of the payment processing services provided by Stripe.” Stripe handles your data under its privacy policy, and here are the banks it works with.
    • ATH Móvil payments go through your own ATH Business account and follow its terms.
  5. Verification and trust

We verify each instructor subject by subject: we review their credentials, give them a short Mestri test and add up their class hours with reviews. We show the Law 300 certificate of anyone who teaches minors. “Verified” means the person completed that process.

Verification reduces risk, but doesn't eliminate it: we can't guarantee anyone's conduct or the outcome of a class. Read profiles and reviews, use the arrival code and let us know about anything that worries you.

  6. Requesting, booking and canceling

    • Before you confirm a class you see the price, the place, the length and the instructor's cancellation policy. That policy is the one that applies.
    • If the instructor cancels or doesn't show up, you aren't charged for that class and, if you paid with the hour bank, the hours go back to your bank.
    • The hour bank is bought in packages from an instructor, an academy or a club, and is used with them. When you buy it you see how long you have to use it and what happens to hours you don't use. If an instructor leaves Mestri with unused hours of yours, we help you ask for a refund.
    • Academies and clubs charge their monthly fees and dues according to the plan you chose when you signed up. You see the date and amount before each charge, and you can cancel from the app.
  7. Class time

    • The clock starts when the instructor arrives and enters your arrival code.
    • You pay for the time you agreed on. If you want to keep going, the instructor proposes extra time and you accept it or not in the app. Without your yes, there's no charge. The first 10 extra minutes are free.
    • The class closes with the real time, and that time is taken from your hour bank or charged. If you disagree with the time of a class, let us know from the app.
  8. Payments

    • You pay with a card, Apple Pay or ATH Móvil. The money goes straight from you to the account of the instructor, the academy or the club. Mestri never receives or holds the payment for a class.
    • Before paying you see the total, with any service fee included. Afterward you get your receipt in the app and by email.
    • If you have a problem with a payment, first talk it over with the instructor in the Mestri chat. If it isn't resolved, write to us and we'll help. You can also go to your bank: card disputes are handled by Stripe with your bank.
  9. Applause, gifts and shared classes

    • Applause with a tip goes in full to the instructor. Mestri doesn't charge for tips.
    • Hours you gift belong to whoever receives them, to use with the instructor of the gift.
    • In a shared class, each family pays its part and accepts the same class conditions.
  10. Material, courses, memberships and Mestri Plus

    • Material and courses are sold by whoever created them. When you buy them you get permission for you and your family to use them, not to copy, resell or publish them.
    • An instructor's memberships and Mestri Plus are monthly. Before joining you see the price and the billing date, and you expressly agree that the charge repeats every month until you cancel. We let you know before each charge. You cancel in one tap from the app: the next month isn't charged and you keep access until the end of the month you paid for.
    • If you buy inside the iPhone or Android app, Apple or Google makes the charge, and their payment and refund rules apply to that purchase.
  11. Your content, reviews and reports

    • What you upload stays yours: videos, material, photos, reviews and messages. You give us permission to store it, show it and adapt its format within Mestri, and to use public content to promote Mestri. That permission ends when you delete it, except for copies the law requires us to keep.
    • Only someone who took or taught the class can leave a review. Reviews must be honest: they aren't paid for or traded for favors. We remove those that break these rules, never for being negative.
    • Clips and voice notes from a class with a minor are recorded only if the family gave written permission in the app. The family can withdraw it anytime: then nothing more is recorded and we delete the clips of their classes.
    • The class report is drafted by artificial intelligence from the instructor's clip and voice note. The instructor reviews it before sending it and is responsible for it. It is a practice guide, not a professional assessment, and it may contain mistakes: if you see one, tell your instructor.
    • Only upload content that belongs to you or that you have permission to use. If you think something on Mestri infringes your copyright, write to us at hola@mestri.app with the link to the content and the work that is yours.
  12. Children and safety

    • In everything others can see, children appear as their illustrated avatar. Only their family and their instructor see their real photo. Comments are off on videos with minors.
    • If the class is in a home and the student is a minor, an adult from the family must be present. If the class is online and the student is a minor, an adult from the family must be nearby.
    • Instructors don't contact a minor outside Mestri or ask for their contact details. Everything goes through the family and inside the app.
    • Live location is shared only on the way to the class and with your permission.
    • The help button lets you call 911 with your location at hand or alert the Mestri team. It works only with signal and GPS, and it doesn't replace calling 911: Mestri is not an emergency service.
    • You can block and report any person or content from the app. To protect the community, and above all minors, we may review messages and content when someone reports them or when we detect signs of fraud or risk.
    • If you know or suspect that a minor is suffering abuse, neglect or mistreatment, Puerto Rico law asks you to report it immediately to the Department of the Family hotline or to the Police. Let us know too. Mestri reports to the authorities, and to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) when the law requires it, any content or conduct that puts a minor at risk.
  13. What is not allowed

    • Asking for, offering or making payments outside Mestri for classes with people you met on Mestri.
    • Harassing, threatening or discriminating against anyone because of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, origin, religion, age, disability or any other condition protected by law.
    • Posting sexual or violent content, or content that exposes a minor. If someone posts an intimate image of you without your permission, write to us at hola@mestri.app and we'll take it down within 48 hours.
    • Recording someone without their permission or, in the case of a minor, without their family's permission.
    • Creating fake accounts, impersonating someone else or leaving fake reviews.
    • Using Mestri to send spam, scrape data automatically, break its security or sell things that aren't classes or educational material.
  14. Messages and notifications

Conversations and calls with instructors happen inside Mestri, and your number stays private. We send you notifications through the app and by email, and by WhatsApp or SMS only if you agree. You choose which notifications to get and can turn them off anytime; notifications needed for a class or a payment, such as a receipt, keep coming. You agree to receive these terms, receipts and notifications electronically, with the same validity as on paper.

  15. Responsibility

We work to keep Mestri running well and without interruptions, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors.

Mestri is responsible for what Mestri does: the platform, verification as we describe it here and the handling of your data. Instructors are responsible for their class and for what happens in it, and each user is responsible for what they do on Mestri.

Nothing in these terms takes away the rights the law gives you as a consumer or stops you from going to court or to DACO (Puerto Rico's Department of Consumer Affairs).

  16. Suspending or closing an account

You can delete your account anytime from the app; classes and payments you already agreed to remain. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts someone at risk. When possible we'll tell you why, and you can ask us to review it by writing to hola@mestri.app.

  17. Changes to these terms

If we change something important, we'll let you know through the app or by email at least 30 days in advance and ask you to accept the new terms, unless the law or someone's safety calls for an immediate change. If you don't accept them, you can delete your account at no cost, and what you already agreed to continues under the previous terms.

  18. What belongs to Mestri

Mestri's name, logo, design, app and software belong to Lexama Labs. You can use them to use Mestri, not to copy them or to make something that looks like Mestri.

  19. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Puerto Rico and the applicable federal laws of the United States. If you have a problem, write to us first at hola@mestri.app: we'll try to resolve it with you within 30 days. If we can't, either of us can go to the courts of Puerto Rico, and as a consumer you can also file your complaint with the Department of Consumer Affairs (DACO).

  20. Contact

Write to us at hola@mestri.app. Mestri is a Lexama Labs product, in Puerto Rico. Read also how we take care of your data in Privacy; the app will have its own policy, with a section about minors, before launch.
